ABOUT ME

With over 20 years of work experience in academia, I am the Associate Dean of MBA and MS Programs, and Professor and David M. Bond Fellow for Ethics and Corporate Behavior at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. I am committed to graduate business education and continuous improvement in our programs to meet the changing needs of leaders and organizations. I received a bachelor's degree in marketing, a master's degree in management, and a Ph.D. in organizational behavior, all from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. 

 

I teach and conduct research in the field of management, with a focus on teamwork, collaboration, and organizational behavior. I teach graduate business courses and numerous executive education offerings and have received the Carlson School's Excellence in Teaching, Outstanding Honor's Faculty and the Carlson Executive MBA Curtis Cup Award for Excellence teaching awards. 

 

My research focuses on teamwork, including the formation and design of teams, the social capital benefits of teamwork in organizations, entrepreneurial teams, knowledge management and team routines, and cross-cultural teamwork. My work is published in Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Management Science, Organization Science, the Strategic Management Journal, the Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Business Venturing, Group and Organization Management, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Management International Review, Journal of Managerial Issues, Journal of World Business, Small Group Research and The Journal of Managerial Psychology.

 

I have been a visiting scholar at various prestigious institutions, such as the University of Warsaw, ESMT Berlin, and Maastricht University. As the department chair, I oversaw the curriculum, faculty, and budget of the management department, and foster a culture of excellence, diversity, and innovation. I am passionate about advancing the knowledge and practice of management, and contributing to the mission and vision of the Carlson School of Management.

 

I have previously served as Deputy Editor and Senior Editor for Organization Science, and as Area Editor for the Journal of International Business Studies. I currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of International Business, Journal of World Business, Small Group Research, and Management International Review, and have previously served on the boards of the Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, and Journal of Management. I was on the Executive Committee of the College of Organization Science (INFORMS) from 2010 - 2013, past board member of INGROUP, and have served extensively on program committees, junior faculty and doctoral consortia for leading academic conferences.
